Are you surfing the net just to escape the nightmare that has become your daily routine at work? Join Bob and Jed this week as they talk about how to handle it when you become totally overloaded at work.
Monday’s Tip (Overload At Work): Determine your top priorities. It’s quite possible that there are many things that are not too important that are taking up a lot of your time at work. You have to figure out what the most important things are, and act on those.
Tuesday’s Tip (Overload At Work): Get agreement from your boss on top priorities. Sometimes we do things that we think are important that our boss and the organization could care less about. Make sure you have agreement on your top priorities.
Wednesday’s Tip (Overload At Work): Schedule your priorities in first. Once you know what your priorities are, you have to schedule them into your day. Too often, the urgent overwhelms the important.
Thursday’s Tip (Overload At Work): Delegate and eliminate. You must be ruthless about deciding what tasks you should no longer do, and what tasks you may be able to delegate to someone else.
Friday’s Tip (Overload At Work): You may have to give up some tasks you enjoy doing. The most difficult part about altering habits is giving up those things that may not be a priority, but we really like to do. Be brave – give up your pet projects if they are not top priority.
Three Things to remember about dealing with Overload At Work:
1. Only You Can Fix This.
2. Know What Your Top Priorities are and get agreement on them.
3. You may have to give up some things you enjoy.
